My Grandparent 60th Annivarsary party was a great success. My Grandma look beautiful and her new dress showed that she is still as CLASSY as they get. Grandpa looked handsome and proud when he walked in the room hand in hand with her. Uncle Jeff made an awesome slide show that we watched and everyone loved ~link~ http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=19202746 and Uncle Rob wrote a song/poem that I read, with a lump in my throat the whole time. it was harder than I thought, and I hope I did it justice because I really love it and it's SO from the heart. He lives in FL and couldnt make it so my two sappy Aunts nominated me to read it. Most of the chicks on the Chambers side are criers. me included. That why I'm not sure why they asked me to read it. I believe it was a set up. ;>) ohh yeah and my stupid camera died as I tried to take the first picture of the night so when I get some I'll post them!
I really love this family. I think all of these people have helped shape and form me to make the person I am today. I watch my Grandparents sit back and silently take in everything that they created. What an amazing accomplishment and they still love each other so much. They relay on each other they laugh and pick on each other and they hold hands. I love that. I'm glad I'm a Chambers, these people have had a huge impact in my life.
This is a poem that my Uncle Rob wrote for my Grandparents 60th wedding Anniversary
60 years and 30 souls
Refrain:
60 years is a lot of living
30 souls is a lot of loving
My, my, look what you two have done
Your love carries on, it carries us on.
‘Twas good luck to be living in the best of times
When life was simple and much better defined
Young and in love and planning ahead
You don’t have much yet, but the will to get wed
Then the 50’s, a decade of children and worry
Getting it done, life in a hurry
A struggle for sure, but the kids never knew,
Feeling so safe, secure and loved too
The 60’s present you a brand new test
The times are a changing, maybe not for the best
Your marriage holds steady, an eye in the storm
Hold on tight as a 5th child is born
The times they are rocky, all families are changing
Partners are splitting, a dumb war is raging
Mom goes to work to help bring in some bread
And still does the dishes and tucks us in bed
You do what you can to rein those kids in
Give ‘em a kick when they are tempted by sin
At times you wonder how you got in this mess
But hey these kids are beauties, you have to confess
But how do you deal with the changing of life
Ya just got used to kids, and living with strife
And now they are leavin, their flying the coop
You’re starting to feel like you’re out of the loop
But they come oft to visit, they like their old home
And they bring their new loved ones and they call on the phone
And you see the new life that their new unions now bring
And you see life has cycles, and again it is spring
So look what you’ve built, it’s your legacy now
30 good people who happened somehow
And these people are all your greatest fans
As they watch you age graceful, and see you hold hands.
60 years is a lot of living
30 souls is a lot of loving
My, my, my, look what you two have done
Your love carries on, it carries us on.
